Amazon Apparel

This tangible representation of an Amazon patent shows a perfectly oiled cog in Amazon’s delivery system: networked, controlled via sensors, headphones and augmented reality glasses, the futuristic workers are guided directly to the products by their clothing and accessories. Their location is constantly monitored, in order to streamline the workflow and to reduce accidents with operating robots.

“Amazon Apparel” shows how much Amazon’s patented innovations are changing not only the buildings of the future working world, but also the people in it: machines are becoming increasingly autonomous alongside employees, who are remotely controlled by their clothing. Both enable goods to be brought to customers even faster.

Analogous to the related work “The Hive“, the person guided by his bracelet through the work environment is made visible in the acrylic block by using a torch.

  • speculative design of a 3D particle model for laser engraving in acrylic glass
  • preparation and supervision of all the data for the production
