Opinionator

The Futurium in Berlin focuses on the relationship between social media and democracy in the exhibition “Democracy in Transition” (opening on 16.03.2023). The media installation “Opinionator” provides insights into the tools used by influencers to influence opinions, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.

An avatar welcomes visitors and presents three common tools in the influencer industry: Geotargeting, Social Listening, and A/B testing. Users of the installation decide whether they would use these methods to influence others’ opinions. Animated graphics illustrate and complement the avatar’s explanations.

A graphic on the back side of the installation provides an overview of numerous other methods and their applications. It highlights the presence and possibilities of the influencer industry in today’s world.
